Gilat Selects Skybridge for Installation and Maintenance Services of NBN Co Interim Satellite Service

Gilat Satellite Networks Australia Pty Ltd has awarded Skybridge (Australia) Pty Ltd an exclusive three year contract to provide national installation and maintenance services for terminals as part of the National Broadband Network Company’s First Release Satellite Service.

The award follows the selection in May 2011 of Gilat by Optus Networks Pty Limited to provide a SkyEdge II Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) network, with Gilat Australia providing end-to-end installation, hub operation and maintenance for the Australian Government’s NBN Co Interim Satellite Service. The association will leverage Gilat’s proven global experience in the management of large scale satellite networks and Skybridge’s vast experience in the deployment of consumer VSAT infrastructure in Australia.

The agreement with Gilat provides for the deployment of up to 48,000 VSATs.
