Telstra wish to extend our thanks from both the program and account teams on the professional job and excellent results we consider were achieved by Skybridge as part of NAB’s Business TV technology transformation project recently undertaken by Telstra.

We acknowledge that the Skybridge team not only met, but exceeded, our expectations of a rather complex project in limited and strict timeframes.  

Program Overview

NAB operates and utilises a Satellite based technology to push internal and external media content via their Business TV Studio & platform to each of their Corporate & Retail sites, across the country, numbering approximately 800 sites. The previous technology solution was implemented approximately 10 years ago, and within the last 12 months, was identified that a number of critical technology lifecycle issues needed to be addressed.

Whilst continuing to operate NAB TV on Satellite technology, the core terrestrial backbone needed to be re-designed & built (Melb - Syd), a new physical Satellite commissioned (D2 Sept 2008) and premises equipment refreshed at every one of the ~ 800 sites. The logistics behind performing this program at a financial institution had many challenges, all of which Telstra considers were overcome by the joint team to achieve the results required.

As there were some unplanned events that shortened critical elements of the previous technology solution, the transformation needed to be completed during the busiest part of the banking year, whilst providing continuity of the NAB TV services to the end users.

Customer Engagement and Planning

Telstra believes the success of implementing this program began with the customer engagement and planning phases. In our view, Skybridge provided complete transparency in the service definitions, which further reflected into the commercial deliverables of the program, culminating in delivering within schedule and budget. 

The planning also involved formulating detailed work instructions for the field work force, along with processes, escalations and backup plans to reduce any people, technology and hardware risks. 

Skybridge’s professional services and expertise in this field greatly assisted the Telstra and Globecast teams in identifying any risks, along with providing a complete program design. During the planning we also jointly tested and refined the processes and technology implementation, designed to allow NAB greater confidence in the program.

Program execution

Skybridge compiled a project team consisting of approximately 3 full time resources that were critical to Telstra's ability to deliver the project.  This team and representatives from Globecast and Telstra met on a daily basis during the project rollout to review the activities of the previous day and make decisions on issues that had arisen.  Skybridge compiled and maintained a followup log template which became an integral tool in managing the delivery of the project.  In addition, Skybridge's website was an important project tool in which all the results from each site visit were posted.  The information was uploaded within 24 hours of the site visit to assist NAB in making timely decisions about site issues.  The website was also, in our view, very easy to navigate through and sort as required on numerous variables.

Telstra considers that Skybridge completed the project in time and within budget and, as part of closing of the project, completed the commercial audit to ensure the teams delivered what was promised and also addressed any variations identified that were out of scope.
