The Optus Thuraya Satellite Service and dual-mode GSM/Satellite phone, provides you with mobile coverage right across Australia. Utilising sophisticated mobile satellite technology, the Optus Thuraya Satellite Service allows access to a range of portable voice, products and services.

With the Thuraya SG-2520 Dual Mode (Satellite & GSM) phone, you now have the flexibility to use your phone in GSM or satellite mode.

The Optus Thuraya phones set the standards for the smallest and lightest satellite handsets in the industry. Weighing in at 130g for the SO-2510 and 180g for the SG-2520. Carrying a pocket sized satellite phone has never been easier.

Features of the Optus Thuraya Satellite Service

  • Coverage - The service allows you to make and receive calls across Australia within line of sight to the Thuraya satellite.and up to 200kms out to sea, as well as extending throughout the Thuraya coverage area. See coverage here.

Mobile Plans & Rates

The Optus Thuraya Satellite Service ($50 a month inc. GST), when attached with any Personal Optus GSM Mobile Plan allows you make and receive calls across Australia. GSM calls will be charged as per the nominated rate plan, and satellite calls charged at the Thuraya satellite rates below.

International & other Satellite Calls $3.25 per 30 secs
Flagfall 40c
SMS 50c per message (no charge for receiving SMS)
Data 9c per KB charged in 10KB increments
